Peeker Bean

A lifelong maker, Melissa Laney started Peeker Bean in 2018 with the encouragement of her family and friends after repeatedly being told, “You should sell these!”  Learning new ways to create art using her computer and bringing those learnings to life on stickers, tumblers and more is her current favorite.  She is joined in these efforts by her daughters, Grace and Jillian whose family nicknames combined to create the company name.  Melissa uses epoxy resin, alcohol ink, mica and glitter to create her artwork and crafts.

She is a “Thumb” native, growing up in Unionville and spending her summers in Oak Beach through college.  After several years camping throughout Michigan with her family, they purchased a cottage in Port Austin ten years ago and have plans to retire in the area eventually.  Melissa’s line of stickers celebrating the Thumb are drawn by herself and her daughter Grace, a student in the Arts Academy program at Plymouth Canton Educational Park in Canton, MI.  By day, Melissa is an HR Manager for a national retail chain and spends her evenings creating in her studio.  She loves to inspire others to smile by sharing her projects at select craft shows, the Port Austin Farmers Market, Etsy, and PAKS Garage.
